Mentor Training... All prospective mentors must attend a training session before they mentor students. These sessions are two hours in length and are presented at various times during the year. If you are unable to attend a mentor training session, or you begin mentoring later in the school year, contact the AIMS office for other training possibilities. Mentor application forms will be available at the training sessions. You will be given information about the required security checks and a time table for mentoring in a school that you choose. You may also leave a message at the AIMS office (630) 259-8415, and an application will be sent to you.
If you know someone who is interested in mentoring, please contact Mark Dwyer, Principal of Du Jardin School in Bloomingdale. Mark does most of the mentor training. He will meet with the prospective mentors at a time that is suitable for Mark and the interested person. Please call Mark at (630) 894-9200 or Ken at (630) -259-8415 or e-mail Ken for more information.
It is helpful for us to know if you are planning to attend training sessions, so call or e-mail Ken with this information. We welcome you even if you have not registered, so you can discover what mentoring is all about.
Start planting the seed for future mentors next year. Let friends know the values of mentoring a student and the need for more mentors in our schools. Send prospect names to Ken Black so they can be contacted in August.
An AIMS mentor training session was televised and transferred to a DVD. This DVD can be viewed followed by a discussion with either a site coordinator at one of our AIMS schools or with Ken Black, the AIMS coordinator.
